Working for others
Close colleagues of Annie from the British Red Cross have expressed the following:

"Annie was one of the warmest and most positive people I have ever met. She was a truly remarkable woman and hugely loved by all who worked with her. She brought boundless energy, goodwill and joy into any task. I never had the benefit of the full experience of her team meetings but, by all accounts, they often involved red wine and song while pursuing a higher humanitarian purpose! She was a true Red Crosser. In short, it was a privilege to have known her. It seems so sad and so unjust, but she will never be forgotten. And I will miss her enormously."
– From Mike Adamson, current CEO, British Red Cross, former colleague and friend to Annie.
"Annie was a very popular colleague and friend to many: someone who made a tremendous contribution to our work. Annie will always be remembered for her integrity, her immense warmth and good humour and her genuine interest in the wellbeing of others. Annie was always kind and managed to bring out the best of everyone. She epitomised the Red Cross values – especially humanity and compassion – and was of course courageous too. As a trusted senior colleague I often observed Annie’s creativity and insight at work and marvelled at her unique ability to repeatedly engage others in a collective and productive team effort. Her prowess as a senior leader was impressive and recognised beyond the Red Cross. Annie was also the trusted colleague who I could rely on to keep a confidence - and the team player who would always speak honestly, giving a thoughtful and independent view at all times." - From Norman McKinley, Executive Director of UK Operations, British Red Cross.
"I knew Annie well, and always enjoyed my visits to her 'patch'. She was a very able and popular colleague and friend, who made a tremendous contribution to our work in Wales and the West, and in the UK as a whole. She was always cheery and optimistic, a great team player and a great leader in her own right. She bore her long fight with illness with supreme bravery, and will be remembered as a great Red Crosser and a great friend to all of us." - From Nick Young, former CEO, British Red Cross.
"I had the good fortune to work with Annie many many years back when she was the interim Director of UK Service Development. I remember the first time I went to see the office in Worcester where she worked (and I know that Annie had input into the design of it - very impressive). She explained about the newt sanctuary at the back, that she cared for a great deal as well! I still remember having a lovely conversations with her about venetian glass that I know she loved and I was able to give her a nice colourful piece which she really liked! These are some of my fondest memories of her - a truly lovely warm beautiful woman!" - From Lisa Jerman, British Red Cross.
